I think the joke relates to Jet Engine, the core of Microsoft Access. Everyone hated it because of its frequent crashes and need to reorganize the data, and the Microsoft Developers probably knew best why it was so instable.

Jet Engine - the every first (?) database engine developed by Microsoft for MS Access database.

It refers to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Jet_Database_Engine. IIRC, it was considered to be lacking in some regards, but I forgot what its exact problems are. I had the fortune of never having to use it. :)

Never saw a wikipedia link repeated so many times. I think this could be a comic itself...

Yeha you're right, because it was sooo easy to get access to it! http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=microsoft+jet+engine wouldt be a better link. :-)

@HoBLia
Very true...
To me this is another example why moderated comments just DON'T WORK! (to my defense [and probably everybody else's:] I did post my initial comment when there was still "0" comments).
It would be better (for the moderator[s]) to just get a notification for every comment (which they obviously do) and then delete the offensive/illegal comments (which would still be according to German law, which I have the feeling is the reason for the moderation).
